According to Gosiger’s David Cogswell, the common theme expressed by attendees of the 2013 Medical Design & Manufacturing Show West was a desire to improve or expand their manufacturing capabilities. “The people I spoke with were company owners, manufacturing engineers and other production people looking for better ways to make their products, and to expand their businesses.” This, of course, bodes well for both the manufacturing sector and the overall economy.
Please Join The Discussion! You are invited to the Woman In Manufacturing Roundtable on March 21st, 2013 at noon. This month is a departure from our normal hard-hitting topics to self improvement.
Gosiger Dayton recently hosted the Women in Manufacturing Roundtable, welcoming 25 members to the employment-focused event.
We hope you will join us for the Robotic Automation Lunch 'N Learn event. Learn about the benefits of robotic automation in a parts machining environment as well as the economic trends indicating that increased investment in technology is shifting manufacturing operations away from increased labor hiring. See how actual robotic automation case examples support those assertions. Be sure to attend this free event October 18th!
The 2012 edition of the International Machine Tool Show (IMTS) was an unmitigated success with over 100,000 manufacturing professionals in attendance. Thanks to all who kept us busy in the Gosiger and Okuma booths. Clearly, manufacturers came looking for more and better ways to increase productivity and profitability – and found what they were looking for.
We hope you will join us for the final seminar of our three-part Lights Out Manufacturing series. Learn about today’s most up to date technology available to help you maintain an unattended setting without worry.
Enabling manufacturers to position and machine up to 4 parts at a time, Hardinge 5C multi-spindle rotary indexers improve small part productivity. These single and dual axis indexers machine each part with the same tool before moving on to the next process, thus producing more parts per hour and reducing cost per part.
Gosiger, Inc. productivity experts will be on hand in IMTS Booth # S-9266 to help manufacturers find the best solutions for their unique applications. There will also be Gosiger staff in Okuma Booth #S-8500 to help introduce eight new machines including the MU-10000H, the largest Okuma 5-axis, horizontal, high-speed machining center. This new 5-axis CNC machine has a maximum work piece weight capacity of 5,500 pounds and can accommodate a work piece up to 59.05” in diameter by 44.29” high.
Although the United States is second only to Japan in industrial robot usage, American manufacturers use robots in only 10% of possible applications. One reason is that many manufacturers aren’t aware of the many ways robots can improve productivity by reducing manual labor within the manufacturing process. In the Gosiger IMTS 2012 booth (S-9266), visitors will see live demonstrations of robots performing such tasks as loading and unloading parts, distinguishing good parts from bad, force sensing (plug & spine) and quick change End of Arm Tooling (EOAT). Additionally, Gosiger Automation will present videos of recent customer installations so visitors may view real-world applications of these automation principles.
